The Geek Program
Offering inspiring educational content that connects all GM employees
Cultivating the tech leaders of tomorrow
The Geek Program plans and hosts GM's speaker series and competitive events. The program includes Geek Days, Geek Week, Geek Learning, Geek Intern, and Geek Speak: LIVE! The events are available to GM employees and contractors across the globe providing a virtual technology program designed to inspire, educate, and connect all GM employees.
Geek Program Events
Geek Program events aim to motivate, educate, and foster connections among attendees, exploring the latest trends in technology and building a sense of community
Geek Weeks are quarterly competitive challenges, spurring innovation through group events. Business partners would range across the company. Competitions include Geek Bowl, Top Coder, Hackathon and Geek Week specific keynotes.
Geek Days feature in-house & external engagement events that drive towards a workplace of choice environment. These events are technical in nature, but also informative/educational on many levels. Examples include a speaker series, keynotes (executive, collegiate or external), and partner collaborations (i.e. Epic Games)
Geek Learning features new and continuing education opportunities. Enjoy in-person & virtual, classroom style learning opportunities that allow individuals to bolster their career within Software & Services. Participants receive industry/best in class learning, a partner certification series (I.E. IBM, Google, Microsoft), quick "How -To" videos and defined learning paths.
A three-month summer internship allowing students to design, develop, and deliver functionality directly to the business.
Geek Speak: LIVE!
Biweekly in-person speaker sessions that cover a wide range of topics in 30 minutes or less.

Project ShowcaseAs part of the speaker series, Geek participants have the chance to learn more from peers and mentors as they browse current and future projects.

Geek Program Stories
In August 2023, NASCAR came to Michigan International Speedway for a jam-packed weekend of intense racing. This year the GM Motorsports team partnered with the Geek Program for two Hackathons as well as an intern project.
The Geek program at General Motors has continued to collaborate with other business units inside the company while welcoming outside speakers for live interactive learning sessions.
