Geek Out: Calculated Collaboration

The Geek program at General Motors has continued to collaborate with other business units inside the company while welcoming outside speakers for live interactive learning sessions.

The program had its first post-pandemic in-person event at the Austin Innovation Center in August 2023. These informative sessions drive future collaboration and innovation. The event featured Chandrakant D. Patel — Chief Engineer and Senior Fellow at HP. Events like Geek LIVE! provide leaders with a great opportunity to mingle and meet team members of all levels of experience, from all functions.

The program also partnered with the Global Safety team to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Global Safety Week, which is dedicated to bringing visibility to safety with Executive Leader communications, safety programming, and education. On September 8th, the Geek team updated employee lock screens with the Global Safety Week branding that instructs employees to commit to safety at the Geek homepage. The site was temporarily rebranded for the Global Safety Week takeover.
