GM Employee Spotlight - Stephen

Stephen

What does your day look like?

As an Accessories QRD Lead, I work in Quality and Compliance, so I deal with things that the customers actually experience. After checking emails, I handle any quality issues that arise, setting up part returns and collaborating with the supplier to identify any quality spills. Each week, I present a progress report to leadership. My tasks vary day-to-day, but I always put myself in customers’ shoes and take issues to heart.

What’s been my most exciting project to date?

Recently I got to engineer a Carbon Fiber Spoiler for the Z06 Corvette. This project was so much fun, because I got to create something that many engineers thought could not be done. I worked closely with my supplier to develop unique manufacturing techniques that allowed us to pull off a one of a kind spoiler—that’s both functional and artistic.

How has General Motors allowed me to be more than a engineer?

General Motors has provided numerous engagement opportunities like GM2020 where I get to influence a culture change within the company. Also, I’ve been able to give back to the community through various volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
