What’s new:

General Motors announced a collaboration with INRIX Inc., a world leader in mobility analytics and connected car services. The two companies created, and continue to develop, Safety View by GM Future Roads & INRIX. This system is a data-based solution that will help transportation and planning agencies design and execute safety measures to improve roads for drivers.

Why it matters:

Transportation professionals must prioritize data-driven solutions to help produce meaningful impacts and demonstrate the highest potential to address the many potential road and traffic safety risks.

The GM innovation team created GM Future Roads platform in response to this need and aligned with the vision for a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.

The company presented the first product from the platform, Safety View.

Safety View is a cloud-based safety analytics application with access to connected vehicles, public safety and demographic data. The application delivers insights into the behavior of road users.

Safety view can help transportation professionals to achieve their road safety goals by providing:

Instant access to comprehensive data, including critical safety and demographic datasets in one cloud-based application

The ability to easily identify dangerous roadway segments and drill into valuable insights about what makes them unsafe and prioritize those that need the most attention

The tools to evaluate the impact of a Vision Zero action plan with access to regularly updated datasets

The means to accelerate the funding application process by providing the required datasets and analytics tools needed all in one place.

This new collaboration between GM and INRIX marks an important advancement in the mission to help local and tribal governments, metropolitan planning organizations and other road authorities achieve their safety goals through connected vehicle data innovation.
