GM’s Battery Platform

GM’s premiere electric vehicle platform is built on flexible EV architecture and a dynamic propulsion system. Our Battery Platform fuels the production of EVs across GM’s product portfolio. Customers rely on its impeccable power, range and performance.

Super Cruise

Introducing the first true hands-free driving assistant technology for compatible roads. When Super Cruise is on, GPS, radars, real-time cameras, and precise LiDAR map data keep the vehicle moving down the lane path, speeding up or slowing down when necessary. Hydrotec

This is the heart of our fuel cell strategy. We’ve been innovating hydrogen fuel cells for over 50 years. Now, we see them as a supplement to the Ultium Battery. We work with the Ultium power cube to electrify heavy-duty equipment – like freight trains, long haul trucks, aircrafts and power generators.

GM’s Electric Drive System

Our next-gen EVs are powered by a family of five interchangeable drive units and three motors. Together, they make up GM’s Electric Drive System – which helps GM transition its current portfolio to a fully electric lineup.

Battery Management System

We’re the first automaker to use an (almost) completely wireless battery management system, or wBMS, for production electric vehicles. This wBMS enables GM to power many different types of electric vehicles from a common set of battery components.

Ultium Energy Recovery System

The Ultium Platform's energy recovery system can recover and store waste heat from the vehicle, increasing range by up to 10 percent. This reduces battery energy needed for heating, boosts charging speed – and even power sportier driving.
