General Purpose of Position:

      Execute digital models by developing aesthetic surfaces which meet time and quality requirements as directed by Sculpting Leadership for assigned programs. Contribute to problem solving with design and engineering stakeholders, assisting in the development and execution of property planning. Support Sculpting leadership with mentoring others in efficient methods for developing models, integrating new technologies, and creating workflows.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop surfaces for digital models throughout the GVDP
  • Support surface releases which meet Design approval, production engineering, and data release requirements
  • Comprehend program timelines and all relating model quality requirements
  • Adhere to and assist in developing common GM Global Design processes / best practices
  • Frequently assists studio personnel in developing solutions to engineering and design problems
  • Knowledge of current trends in design, technology, production methods and materials
  • Mentor others in achieving GVDP modeling standards and technical ability
  • Attend appropriate program related meetings as defined by Sculpting Leadership
  • Perform accurate assessment of surface quality

Skills and Abilities:          

  • High Level of creative proficiency
  • Expertise in the use of creative digital modeling equipment to develop surfaces that meet design and engineering specifications
  • Highly skilled with sketch interpretation/ability to translate Design input into 3D models
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Functional knowledge in the use of current office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.) with an ability to create presentations/communication documentation
  • Ability to estimate timing requirements for model execution
  • Insight into future product technology, design process technology and design tools (i.e. NX and Alias)
  • Ability to Lead program execution if assigned by Sculpting Management team

Education and/or Training:                  

  • College degree or equivalent industry related experience required
