Description

The position will be responsible for sourcing Global Electrical Systems and Advanced Technology components. This is a non-supervisory position, responsible for developing and aligning supplier strategy with advanced computing technology, including supplier roadmaps, contract development and execution. The position will challenge the candidate to go deep into the supply chain and uncover key suppliers and offer the candidate the opportunity to work closely with the advanced technical teams.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

Responsibilities include

  • Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget and on-time metrics

  • Work with Joint Venture counterparts to improve and align the global strategy for future programs (Cruise, SGM, etc)

  • Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in electrification, advanced safety, autonomous driving and semiconductors to develop and execute a robust strategy

  • Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures

  • Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services

  • Cooperate with legal to negotiate special contract terms

  • Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items

  • Support commercial budget activities

  • Support logistics supplier management initiatives including “Strategic Supplier Engagement”

  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution

  • Perform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requests

  • Participate in supplier KPI reviews

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • High level of capability to work independently

  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

  • Knowledge of computer software applications and management of complex contracts

  • Negotiation skills

  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time

  • Business or Engineering Bachelor Degree

  • Capable of interpreting contracts

  • Demonstrated global business skills

  • Minimum of 3 Years revelant Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous purchasing experience

  • Experience in technologically complex industry

  • Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience

  • Automotive industry experience

  • Ability to travel at least 25% of time, including international travel

  • Electrical or Chemical Engineering background

  • Knowledge of materials management

  • Capable of interpreting market data

  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
