Hybrid Work Position:  This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. In the USA, this is an employee who lives 100 miles or less from their designated, primary worksite.

This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.

Virtual Design, Development & Validation - Modeling Lead: You will be responsible for project management, development and delivery of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for full vehicle and subsystems.   • Project Management and leadership in planning and execution of full vehicle and subsystems models for programs to process time and consumer requirements

  • Collaborate with VDDV consumer base and develop robust statement of requirements ( SoR ) for each modelling event

  • Interact, proactively engage, effectively communicate and co-ordinate with Vehicle Performance Integration Manager/Design Release Engineer/Design Engineer/Suppliers/ Performance/Program teams to develop and refine plans for model builds while continuously assessing and mitigating risk.

  • Lead and leverage globally distributed team for model builds

  • Perform risk assessment , monitor progress and enable first time quality and on time delivery of models

  • Actively participate and contribute to department process, speed and quality improvement meetings

  • Lead conducting robust root cause and preventive action summary on quality improvement opportunities on full vehicle safety, body, trim structure( NVH)  and flex models.

  • Identify & Lead efficiency and effectiveness improvement opportunities for master models builds

  • Actively apply process integration principles on day to day activities and propose improvements

  • Perform full Virtual Vehicle assembly, integration and quality checks on models

  • Stay abreast with new modelling technology and apply on the projects being executed

  • Provide technical leadership and lead road to lab to math  projects in alignment with Technology Roadmaps & Vision  for modelling enterprise

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics

  • 8 + yrs  relevant experience in product development domains, e.g:  Design core / DRE/ Testing/ Validation/CAE/Performance/Controls

  • Knowledge of vehicle development process and cross functional interfaces

  • Experienced with Computer aided software tools ( CAE / CAD ) , example: ANSA, HYPERMESH, LS-DYNA, Optistruct/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, Primer, Siemens NX/Catia

  • Demonstrated skills in disciplined problem solving and data analysis

  • Attention to detail and experience in working collaboratively with cross functional teams

  • Demonstrated skills in disciplined problem solving and data analysis

  • Strong oral & written communication skills to work effectively with business partners  to meet program quality and timing while presenting program model status to all stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering/MBA

  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory and application

  • Experienced with Computer aided software tools ( CAE / CAD/CAT)

  • Experience in creating full vehicle/subsystem models and executing CAE standard work

  • 4 + years’ experience with CAE solvers and pre & post-processors  such as: ANSA, Primer, Animator, LS-Dyna, Nastran, Optistruct/ Radioss, Abaqus, HyperWorks (HyperMesh / HyperView), DEP Meshworks

  • Experience with CAD software tools: NX, Teamcenter

  • IT savviness with computer aided tools (CAE /CAD/CAT ) and scripting for automation to arrive at the most efficient and effective path

  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary and remote/offshore distributed teams

  • Demonstrated skills in disciplined problem solving and data analysis

  • DFSS black belt or similar certification
