Hybrid Position: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to cover territory visits to dealerships in a recurring frequency.

Note: The selected candidate must reside within a 50-mile radius of the General Motors Regional Office in Westlake Village, CA.

The Commercial District Manager will have territorial responsibility for the administration of the Sales and Service Agreements that exist between GM and its dealers. You will act as a trusted advisor to our Business Elite and Medium Duty dealers by working together with them on the development and implementation of their business plans. This includes strategizing with the dealer to increase adjacency product sales, including OnStar RPOs and OVI. In this role, you will be working hand in hand with the dealers to ensure that our customers have the best customer experience from the point of purchase through the life cycle of that vehicle. You will be involved in a variety of activities including implementation and development of marketing initiatives, customer retention, product displays, financial analysis, and training. 

The Commercial District Manager’s territory is based out of the Northern Los Angeles area and extends to Central California and Southern Nevada. Extensive travel to dealerships in this territory is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dealership management meetings as well as sales and training activities including monthly face-to-face customer meetings.
  • Manage dealer compliance with the Business Elite and Medium Duty programs, ensuring monthly/yearly sales objectives are met in addition to other dealership goals.
  • Oversee/grow Commercial Truck Club membership and deliver value added content.
  • Attain OnStar RPO and OVI sales objectives.
  • Implement commercial digital marketing and advertising campaigns—work to improve commercial website performance and increase lead generating activities.
  • Analyze dealer sales, local market conditions (sales, registration data, dealer effectiveness, lost sales) and competition to identify specific opportunities.
  • Identify business-to-business related marketing opportunities that could lead to increased sales and service retention and provide support in implementing regional and local business-to-business sales tactics (e.g. targeted activities/events with groups & associations such as NAHB, AGC, ABC, etc).
  • Assist Commercial Sales Managers in executing local business-to-business tactics outlined in the dealer’s Business Elite business plan.
  • Drive Commercial Integration into Business Development processes.

Qualifications:

  • 100% mobile now and in the future
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, or related areas
  • 4+ years in sales and customer service; automotive preferred
  • 3+ years in Fleet Management preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently use time to focus on the most impactful activities while challenging those that distract from the identified goal
  • District Manager—Sales or Service, B2B Sales, Account Management, and/or Customer Service experience
