General Motors (GM) Canada Communications team is responsible for leading GM Canada’s reputation in the areas of product/brand/technology, media relations, corporate social media, internal communications, and community communications in Canada with a strong sense of customer focus, purpose, and accountability!

In this role, you will help support the team of 12 hard-working communication professionals who are creating storytelling moments to demonstrate GM Canada’s leadership to build a more diverse, innovative and more sustainable industry.

This position is a great opportunity for an energetic and motivated person wanting to gain experience in a fast paced and dynamic organization and team! 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with local and national event planning and execution

  • Write content for internal, external, and digital audiences

  • Research new media contacts

  • Assist with program wrap reports

  • Research and gather information for upcoming projects

  • Develop compelling storytelling opportunities for GM’s latest EV portfolio and ICE vehicles

  • Liaise with agency partners to drive non-automotive earned media coverage

Qualifications:

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's (Preferred) degree in the following areas: Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Business

  • Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada and for 8-month term (2 consecutive semesters) starting January 2023

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills with attention to detail

  • Emerging presentation and speaking skills

  • Comfortable using social media and creating content

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual, with proficiency in French language

  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust

  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric

  • Excellent project management skills and the proven track record to manage numerous projects at any given

  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies:

  • Remote: The position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis.
