About GM

We’re dedicated to achieving our vision of a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion. We are looking for people who are passionate about helping us create safer, better and more sustainable solutions for personal mobility. Our bold vision won’t happen overnight, but just as we transformed how the world moved in the last century, we are committed to transforming how we move today and in the future.

Why Work for Us

Our culture is focused on building inclusive teams, where differences and unique perspectives are embraced so you can contribute to your fullest potential as you pursue your career. Our locations feature a variety of work environments, including open work spaces and virtual connection platforms to inspire productivity and flexible collaboration. And we are proud to support our employees volunteer interests, and make it a priority to join together in efforts that give back to our communities.

Background:

Spring Hill Manufacturing site operations consist of a flexible vehicle assembly plant and a Global Propulsion Systems plant! The vehicle plant, which produces the Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, and GMC Acadia, includes a stamping facility, body shop, paint shop and polymer injection molding operation. The on-site engine plant builds both 4-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines. The engines and stampings produced here are supplied to various GM assembly plants globally. We operate out of a 6.9 million sq. ft. facility with a 2100 acre campus, and our workforce is over 3,000 strong. The Quality Engineering (QE) Group is a part of the Spring Hill Manufacturing Quality Organization. The QE group is divided into four main areas of expertise – Exterior, Interior, Chassis and Electrical.

What we do!

We consider our customers’ needs in everything that we do. We fix problems, and we become good at what we do when we fix problems fast, effectively and get the solution right the first time. We move with a sense of urgency – after all, we produce a vehicle approximately every minute, and speed is really of the essence. The areas of problem solving we focus on are supplier and engineering related that impede the building of the vehicle or its performance in the field.

  • Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable.

  • Support off-shift operations (2nd Shift) with flexibility to rotate between shifts as required.

  • Manage all Supplier Action Center (SAC) & Enhanced Supplier Engagement Process (ESEP) activities including coordinating preventive/receiving inspections to detect non-conforming material, providing immediate containment inspections and initiating part rework/repair (if required) to avoid major disruptions to the assembly line related to supplier parts.

  • Serve as liaison between Assembly Plant, Supplier and Supplier Quality Engineering.

  • Lead emerging issues for supplier commodities to ensure parts are delivered to the line in accordance to GM Standards and Specifications through proper containment actions, root cause analysis, countermeasure actions and continuous improvement.

  • Successfully manage multiple projects with broad scope and varying degrees of difficulty.

  • Fix supplier quality and engineering issues impacting Global Customer Audit (GCA), Direct Run Rate (DRR), Warranty and Compass.

  • Solve problems using Red X and other tools as applicable.

  • Develop quality standards and procedures for the plant.

  • Assist production in preventing defects and recommend process improvements.

  • Work with Launch Team on new vehicle builds.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to address SPPS’s (Supplier Practical Problem Solving) issued and ensure robust corrective action.

  • Share Lessons Learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design or build issues.

  • Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause.

  • Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and supplier facilities.
