This is a Hybrid position within our Motorsports Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. This position requires an employee to be onsite up to 3 times per week.

The Role

As Senior Product Manager you will be responsible for developing our Product Master Plan & Strategy for our Motorsports SaaS Products. You will drive development of the Business plan, Product Strategy, Financials, Technical Roadmap for our existing software platforms and new software solutions to the needs of the GM race teams.

As a key product leader, you will be a driver in setting the culture, pace and tone of our Motorsports Software Engineering Organization. This role will also work closely with race teams, our race engineers, architects & customer teams to ensure the voice of the customer is represented in our Product Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of market needs for Motorsports Software

  • Create Product Master Plan, inclusive of Business Case, Financials, Product Vision, Strategy, Product Roadmaps

  • Collaborate with Product Development leaders on Technical Roadmaps & Priorities

  • Create and implement structured communications plan to stakeholders

  • Inform & Balance User Experience, Technology & Business priorities and manage appropriate trade-offs with Stakeholders

  • Analyze, interpret, evaluate, plan & influence decisions across stakeholders & partners

  • Hold themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors

  • Model GM behaviors and build a winning culture

  • Communicate powerfully & proficiently, both externally and internally at an executive level

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ years of Software Product Management experience

  • Motorsports, Connected vehicle, telematics, large/enterprise platform or IoT Product experience

  • Proven ability to effectively represent and negotiate critical market needs within with GM and external partners, while maintaining reputation as a trusted and valued partner.

  • Experience writing product requirements and acceptance criteria with cross functional collaboration

  • Strong experience in communicating cross-functionally, across management levels, both within the company and with key partners or customers in both formal and informal settings.

  • Experience with products where features impact both embedded device and cloud applications (i.e. "connected features")

  • Ability to travel as necessary to GM facilities, supplier facilities and other locations as needed to fulfill job responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability in developing innovative consumer and enterprise applications

  • Solid background in both distilling business needs and translating them into the ideal technical solution(s)

  • Background in sequencing and timing of features that entails matching delivery to customer needs

  • Solid experience in engaging business partners to determine value that will be considered as part of economic value, trade off decisions, or path to realization

  • Ability to pull together a cohesive customer experience across all platforms and channels driving for understanding of the customer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous IT experience with Motorsport Racing history/background

  • Agile certification or equivalent working experience preferred

  • Startup, digital or software product management experience preferred

  • A master's degree in a related discipline, or the background and experience that demonstrates a similar level of strong skills and practices

  • Demonstrated knowledge in multiple software development methodologies (i.e. Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.), and demonstrated success integrating output from teams with differing methodologies
