Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.  

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.  

The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV has created Ultifi, a new vehicle intelligence platform, that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you have the opportunity to put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver state of the art ADAS features on the Ultifi platform.  

We are looking for a driven Software Integration Engineer to join our Sensing Development team. This is team offers a unique opportunity to shape the development of emerging sensor technologies at General Motors! You will be part of our testing dev/QA team, leading our integration efforts in the vehicle. This role will involve rapid prototyping, specifying requirements, evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing, and debugging of advanced sensing functions as a part of AV and active safety development projects. In this position you will partner with our Perception and Viewing Applications team working on a wide range of cameras and Lidars integrating our sensor alignment algorithms into the Ultracruise platform.  

What You’ll Do:   

  • Write gtests and python scripts to test our sensor alignment software on a variety of platforms. 

  • Participate in cross-functional AV and active safety development projects.  

  • Exercise technical direction over engineering support personnel in the development of these systems.  

  • Comfortable with in-vehicle development processes, including prototyping, in-vehicle testing, workflow-analysis

  • Perseverance: Demonstrate the ability to work a problem until it reaches a suitable conclusion. 

What You’ll Need:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree  

  • Minimum of 2 years of software development, production software implementation, OR production software test development experience 

  • Proficient in coding in Python and C++  

  • Experience working with sensing/sensor alignment development, machine vision camera systems OR deep learning in a professional environment   

  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to operate test vehicles 

What is Preferred:   

  • Master’s degree or PhD 

  • 4+ years of software development, production software implementation, OR production software test development experience 

  • Automotive safety critical electronics experience  

  • ADAS or AV experience  

  • Experience with debugging RTOS embedded Systems
