Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! Job Description Summary:

As a Paint Repair Specialist, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all things Automotive Paint Repair. This role will require you to train, coach, and monitor the quality and efficiency of paint repairs in the vehicle repair space. Candidates should possess a knowledge of vehicle paint re-finish prep, application, and finishing. In addition, this role will have supervisory responsibilities for a group of employees to develop business processes, manage Paint Repair operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. You will maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicate department quality goals, and uses resources to tackle quality issues. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management. You will implement and follow systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effective team building and supporting a winning culture.
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.
  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS).
  • Promotes safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics and health and safety.
  • Maintains WPO standards for responsible area.
  • Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform paint repairs using standardized methods.
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).
  • Coach, teach, counsel and mentor team members in these responsibilities.

Additional Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledge of basic math, manufacturing processes and quality control procedures
  • High level oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of scheduling and other management systems
  • High level analytical ability where problems are complex and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate employees and elicit work output.
  • Experience supervising employees in a union and/or manufacturing environment

Preferred:

  • Automotive paint reprocess experience.
