Role Summary:

We are looking for a curious and innovative technical support and maintenance leader for a 12-month Co-Op/internship. In this role, you will use your technical competencies to perform technical support, and lead and mentor our skilled trades.  You will work side by side with our skilled tradespeople to create a work environment free of personal injury. You will provide technical support and collaborate on creative improvements to manufacturing processes, machine reliability, equipment capability, and operating efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a workplace safety culture that prioritizes every employee’s safe return home

  • Schedule maintenance tasks to optimize the effectiveness of our available resources using Maximo and SAP systems

  • Coordinate monthly preventative maintenance program using Maximo software

  • Prepare Standard Task Instructions for repeat maintenance processes

  • Support emergency breakdowns and weekend planning activities

  • Research and source required tools and materials to complete maintenance repairs and related processes

  • Diagnose equipment issues and implement permanent corrective actions

  • Support Group Leaders (Supervisors) with daily tasks and train with them, progressing to cover this position for vacation and related coverage

  • Apply maintenance management tools to evaluate equipment reliability, capability, serviceability, and overall cost effectiveness

  • Coordinate the development of safe and effective maintenance procedures

Qualifications:

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's degree with Co-Op in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering

  • Enrolled in a qualifying Ontario co‑operative education, or internship program (requirement to graduate)

  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada and for 12-month term (3 consecutive semesters) starting May 2023

  • Willing to work in a plant environment

  • Ability to lead maintenance operations on rotating shifts and weekends as required.

  • Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and the ability to infect others with that same drive

  • Successful candidates will be required to attest to their vaccination status (or indicating that they do not wish to disclose), and any job offer will be conditional on the candidate providing that attestation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior manufacturing experience, knowledge of production environments, and in automotive industry

Desired Skills:

  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust

  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric

  • Excellent project management skills and the proven track record to manage numerous projects at any given

  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
