The  Energy / V2X Snowflake Solution Engineer  will be responsible for ideating, incubating, and delivering our next generation digital\data platform for GM Energy related to electric vehicles and energy related product offerings (https://gmenergy.gm.com). Our team includes best-in-industry engineers, product owners, and designers who have an ambition to move at lightning speed, deliver world-class software, and deliver high-quality, innovative software that delights our customers.

The Snowflake Solution Engineer is responsible for establishing best practices in platform management and solution development on a Snowflake based technology stack.  Providing guidance and innovative software development, design elegant and professional code, writing maintainable unit and integration tests (including in memory, mocked tests, and actual integrations). Our engineers work in a highly collaborative environments working across many disciplines.  We regularly work on cutting edge technologies – understanding and inventing new designs and integration patterns along the way.  Candidates must provide technical leadership and guidance to a growing and vibrant organization.

  • Quickly design, develop, and deliver new solutions for new products
  • Estimate and design work that is just-in-time and sized in small increments
  • Perform root cause analysis, do technology evaluations, and develop quick prototypes
  • Commit to completing well-defined, secure, and elegant work and deliver on their commitments
  • Report status of assigned software development and/or maintenance tasks
  • Consistently follow the specified software development methodology
  • Promote improvements in programming practices such as acceptance test driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

Prospective team members possess a high degree of business insight, creativity, decision making skills, a drive for results, the ability to negotiate, the ability to develop strong peer relationships, and a strong technical learning capability and focus

Additional Description

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Over 7 years data and software development utilizing industry standard design patterns (SQL expert, RDMS expert)
  • Over 6 years of software development experience in JavaScript, Spark or Python and RESTful services
  • Over 4 years of Snowflake experience and data architecture\pipeline implementations
  • Database experience with a Relational Database Management Systems (Databricks, Snowflake, CosmoDB, SQL, or similar)
  • Strong interest in mentoring and developing developers \ solution architects \ data analyst on Snowflake capabilities
  • Experience with Agile teams that have regularly delivered software while practicing code review
  • Experienced in key-value datastores, and document stores
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions
  • Creative problem-solving skills that deliver elegant solutions to complex issues
  • Strong teamwork focus (live by the team, die by the team) and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in Azure Cloud, Snowflake SnowPro certification(s)
  • Design, and deliver cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-cloud workloads
  • Modern development patterns and platforms (SnowSQL, SnowPark, SnowPipe, Streamlit)
  • Automate cloud deployments, as well as build CI/CD pipeline to support Cloud-Based workloads
  • Experience using Git source control doing rebases, merges, and handling merge conflicts
