ONSITE: This position require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.

Summary:

The Principal Software Developer requires extensive knowledge of software development, tools, techniques, and processes in large scale enterprise systems. This position will tackle sophisticated engineering problems on a day-to-day basis and should have very creative solution skills, and will be involved in designing critically important software components to enable the vehicle connectivity to Ultifi data centers and Azure cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for defining the system requirements, End to End architecture, and guiding the technical implementation and integration of a deployment-ready product
  • Drive and represent the key value propositions of the product in front of stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of 15-20 people across multiple programs, but will not have direct reports
  • Responsible for the End To End solution architecture and defining the integration strategy, that meets the requirements specified by the customer
  • Develop proposals for customers by including analysis of requirements provided by the customer and positioning the features of the product
  • You will define the APIs and integration strategy of the product with other 3rd party applications and platforms
  • This would include the design and implementation of any custom adapters that may be needed for the integration
  • Provide analysis of customer requirements and help the program manager/PO with the work breakdown structure of the project and estimation of activities required to be done in the project
  • Generate relevant technical documentation like architecture documents, high-level designs, and low-level designs for the product
  • Define and enforce the best development processes e.g., source code management tools, code reviews, static checks, docker files, etc
  • Advise product qualification team on validation of requirements of the product
  • Evaluate, Identify, and Develop the software solution to enable vehicle connectivity from GM data centers, and Azure cloud

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering

  • 15+ years in Java back-end development experience using frameworks such as Spring, AKKA, Springboot.

  • 5+ years of experience in defining Microservices architecture, design, and development

  • 5+ years of experience developing highly scalable and resilient microservices using high-capacity messaging hubs like Kafka

  • Highly experienced in streaming software development

  • A Thorough understanding of all types of databases RDBMS, NoSQL, Caches and their applicability to different scenarios and firsthand experience with one popular DB of each type is a must

  • Must have implemented design patterns, and shall have a clear understanding of design principles

  • Experience in programs where applications are deployed in Azure Cloud

  • infrastructure and familiar with CI/CD processes applicable to such deployments

  • Proficiency with Agile development techniques (including TDD/BDD, Mocks, Junit)

  • Familiar with defining, documenting, and deploying REST APIs

  • Experience with event streaming pipelines based on lightweight protocols (MQTT, AMQP, etc.),

  • Familiar with configuration management for development, test and production environments

  • Experience defining the traffic models used in the scalability, performance, and HA testing of cloud-based platforms

  • Cloud-based security principles including, but not limited to, the use of certificates, authentication, authorization, data encryption, secret management, etc.

  • Experience in developing solutions in a minimum one public cloud

  • Experience working with Media Streaming, file transfers, Data transfer mechanism across different channels cloud/Edge/backoffice. – WebSocket, webRTC, gRPC, MQTT etc.

  • Professional experience analyzing code for weaknesses and errors, and overseeing plans to improve them

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree

  • 15+ years of experience designing and implementing software application

  • Experience in IoT

  • Understanding of SAFe agile framework is added advantage
