GM's Immersive Technology groups is seeking a Production Deployment Lead to work with the Global Product Development (GPD) group with strong technical skills and interest in working on a wide range of projects. You will have a broad impact across the various projects and GM. You will be supporting our global product development teams in the quest to implement virtual reality reviews as a day to day standard task, allowing us to move faster and make quicker decisions as a company.

We are seeking candidates who have excellent problem-solving skills, demonstrated personal accountability, and experience and motivation within the GPD space.

This position requires an employee to be onsite 3 times per week.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of immersive projects during the pilot phase and the implementation phase, working with immersive lab engineers and various IT functions.
  • Work autonomously to conduct pilots to evaluate feasibility and decision making on new hardware and software
  • Evaluate, Analyze, and present Pilot Phase learnings and make decision on the next steps
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with domain partners in the Immersive Lab, IT solution architects, IT partners, and participate in immersive project execution as a core member of the IDT.
  • Create documentation and conduct immersive training in hardware and software.
  • Work with Design and ME Production Deployment Leads to create standards and eliminate redundancies.
  • Work with the Manufacturing deployment lead to streamline processes for Manufacturing and GPD Domains
  • Basic knowledge of multiple software packages to help create training and reference materials for adoption of new technologies and processes such as, wireless technology, high resolution head mounted displays, haptic technologies, and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Immersive Technologies team members on potential transfer of assets to the GPD domain; democratizing work streams where applicable.
  • Collaborate with IT groups to ensure infrastructure to support activities in pilot and production deployment of new technologies.
  • Participate in immersive technology events by demonstrating current and future technologies.
  • Stay ahead of the curve with new immersive technology

Experience, Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred/equivalent industry related experience considered
  • Adept 3D math skills
  • Experience with Virtual Reality hardware (Headsets, Tracking Devices, Haptic Gloves, etc...
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources
  • Ability to work with pre-existing guidelines, standard operating procedures in a fast-paced professional environment
  • Experience with HMDs (HTC Vive, etc.)

Required Software Knowledge:

  • Siemens Teamcenter PDM
  • VisMockup
  • UGNX and/or Alias
  • Microsoft Office
  • Windows

Desired Knowledge:

  • Deltagen
  • UnReal
  • VRED
  • HMD Experience: Oculus, NVIS, Hololens, Vive, etc.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Equivalent (e.g. Computer Science, Computer
  • Engineering)
  • 3+ years working in a 3D related industry or profession
  • Familiarity with Virtual, Augmented, Mixed, and Extended Reality
