Hybrid:  This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite  1-3 times per week .

About the team:

Our team analyzes, defines, and delivers next generation ground breaking software solutions for all of GM's motorsports teams. Using both innovative cloud-based infrastructure and software development standards, these solutions enable innovative interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and our Race teams that accelerate our drivers to the finish line first! Our combined team of analysts, architects, developers, data engineers, testers, and project managers work with GM Motorsports Software Engineering and Race teams to ensure podium wins for GM’s NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA Sportscar teams!

Job summary:

Our team is looking for a detailed and passionate Scrum Lead for the Motorsport Competition Tools team. Our developers work in collaborative agile environments implementing a weekly scrum cadence. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with several areas of engineering, management, and our race team partners. Since supporting the race teams is our top priority, we support attending at least one race to experience the customers using the application in a live scenario.

As a Scrum Leader in GM Motorsports, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Be the servant leader for the scrum to help the team achieve their goals

  • Lead the agile team's daily standups, iteration reviews, iteration planning sessions, and retrospectives.

  • Organize and prepare the team for demos, sprint board, and backlog to help the team complete their committed work

  • Focus the team on completing their team objectives with quality

  • Understand and manage the objectives effectively with the team

  • Eliminate impediments by working with the developers and outside teams

  • Effectively manage interpersonal conflicts and challenges within the scrum team

  • Coordinate and collaborate with departments multi-functional to achieve team objectives

  • Organize and manage on-call calendars throughout the race season

  • Participate in sessions with end users, asking probing questions to elicit business process discussion and gather detailed notes

  • Help document work items related to critical business needs and issues

Additional Description


  • 7 years plus of experience with validated technical and professional skills in job-related area

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed

  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust

  • Consistent demonstration of innovative thinking that is customer-centric

  • Deep understanding of Azure DevOps tools used for leading sprint boards and backlogs

  • Business proven experience around automotive, F1, NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA.

  • Presents information for decision-making purposes with little to no direction

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and analytical capability

  • Strong time leadership skills; raises issues appropriately

  • Ability to multi-task

  • In-depth business knowledge

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
