Electrical Manufacturing Supervisor – Plant Engineering

The Electrical Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for managing the engineering support of a vehicle assembly facility and manufacturing processes. Will oversee or exercise technical direction over engineers, engineering support personnel, contractors, and skilled trades personnel to achieve project or manufacturing objectives.  Also responsible for other tasks related to running and maintaining a manufacturing facility.

Position requires strong electrical background and substantial independent judgment to be exercised in complex or unusual situations while working under general direction of a supervisor. Work is difficult and of a technical nature involving strategic planning and initiative in order to make decisions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Trains, develops, and evaluates employees.

  • Directs the design of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems and sub-systems.

  • Completes special studies and assignments.

  • Participates in both short term and long term planning of facilities design.

  • Coordinates the flow of information between the departments and organizations within the plant, division, and/or Company.

  • Regular multi-functional collaboration with teams outside the work group.

  • Manages the implementation of skilled trades teams and meetings.

  • Plant Engineering subject matter expert for GMS Standardization Principle.

  • Manage Plant ESWP Program.

  • WSS PS4 Electrical Safety champion.

  • Manage the plant skilled trades uniform program.

  • Coordinates plant skilled trades maintenance manpower activities.

  • Lead role in cybersecurity planning and implementation.

  • Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems.

  • Promotes safe work practices as the highest priority and implements objectives that prioritize ergonomics, health/safety and housekeeping.

  • Builds and maintains good working relationships and integrity with employees, union, and management.

  • Plant Apprentice Coordinator

  • Member of corporate manufacturing electrical student and new hire interview teams.

  • Reduces waste by identifying and improving value added tasks and eliminating non-value added tasks.

  • Develop/Implement/Track strategies and initiatives to reduce indirect material spending.

  • BPD level 2 Cost champion

  • Leads and executes the Plant's Asset Program.

  • Responsible for coordinating and maintaining the overall Plant NPP and ACAP action plans and timelines.

Additional Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelors degree with a electrical major in engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Assembly plant experience.

  • Experience working with conveyors and process equipment typically found in an assembly facility.

  • Experience working with various manufacturing electrical control architectures

  • Experience in leading projects and people with demonstrated strong leadership skills

  • High level of analytical ability to handle situations where the problems are unusual and difficult

  • Ability to comprehend gauges, blueprints, layouts and designs

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output

  • Possesses the temperament and communication skills required to foster productive negotiation and interaction with UAW skilled trades committee.

  • Models and fosters desired core values and behaviors

  • Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering preferred

  • Must be willing to work daily or weekend overtime to support vehicle production schedules and project activity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering preferred

  • Previous experience managing salaried employees

  • Experience managing technical projects.
