Build Scheduler, Material Planner Lead

As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for support in one of the key areas: Manufacturing/Warehouse operations, supply chain systems and processes, launch execution and scheduling and material management.

You will act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/ manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support. .


  • Executes deliverables in support of the supply chain organization's business objectives

  • Provides leadership of one of the key areas within GM Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives

  • Communicates to all levels of the organization, within the function as well as other functions and suppliers, external affiliates and regulatory agencies

  • Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to CCA scheduling for Oshawa

  • Assess supplier schedules and impact on scheduling

  • Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers

  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions

  • Handle very complex capacity constraint issues to resolution with goal to eliminate potential plant disruptions and reduce premium transportation

Additional responsibilities as Leader:

  • Identify problems, update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures.

  • Promote GM's values and makes customer-focused decisions.

  • Hold accountability for staffing, communicating, training and development, in addition to, directing and prioritization of work, evaluating performance, and removing roadblocks.

  • Provides technical leadership to team and interacts and collaborates with multi-functional teams to meet targets.

  • Delegation: Assigns and balances workload for direct reports. You will also set individual employee and group priorities, and evaluate performance.

  • Recognition: Formally & informally recognize employee's contributions. Timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriate will be required. As a manager, you will also participate in compensation planning and administer compensation treatment.

  • Removing Roadblocks & Resolving Issues/Complaints: Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.

Additional Description


  • Demonstrated experience in Materials/ Supply chain within the manufacturing industry

  • Deep understanding of supply chain functions

  • Extensive knowledge of plant mobile equipment safety practices

  • Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership

  • Planning and analytical skills; ability to analyze metrics supporting supplier critical issues or sufficiency plan resolution

  • Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution

  • Ability to travel to plant locations when required for onsite support of launch and build-out
