The Role and GM

Our customer is our compass. Their needs are the foundation of our design and they are the reason we do what we do. The Product Design Lead – OnStar Safety & Security will envision the future of our multi-channel OnStar safety experiences with a focus on thoughtful and intentional design. In this position, you will lead the design of the next generation Safety & Security ecosystem that is on the technology horizon of the company. This will require you to leverage your creative concepting skills to form the framework of what will be the next generation of the OnStar customer relationship.

This position will not only require creative muscles, but also an ability to think about our product ecosystem in a collective and strategic way.  You'll need a deep understanding of the customer journey, the relationship between our products, and customer expectations.  It will be your challenge to take intricate and sophisticated technical mappings and translate them into simple and logical experiences for our customers.  You'll create the 10,000 foot gestalt view of our product ecosystem and also delve into the detailed workings of individual features.

Building connections, feeding the culture and building trust with team members is the foundation of successful product design. Your success in this role will hinge on your ability to collaborate with other designers, researchers, product managers, developers and engineers. This collaboration will not be limited to internal connections, as this role will involve integration with stakeholders of strategic partnerships generated outside the company.  In this role you will be the face of our design team, synergizing with our partners to push customer advocacy and design.  For this role you will need to be a storyteller, and able to communicate design in compelling ways that aligns with the connection to the user.  Crafting the story of the experience in simple and fluent visuals will set clear and sustainable goals for your team.

Mentorship and leadership skills will need to be a part of your toolbox as you will be responsible for inspiring and working with a team of junior designers.  It will be expected that you will set purpose, remove roadblocks and drive design for your team.

Lastly, we are looking for boldness and authenticity. We are makers. As leaders in the fastest growing industry today we are not here to follow. We seek individuals with a voice and vision, who design with compassion and empathy. If you are a thoughtful and talented leader who is looking to have real impact and make millions of customers lives better, come join our team.
