Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products! Job Description Summary:

As the controls engineer you will be responsible for smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems. This work requires the ability to solve, maintain and repair activities of plant equipment; the ability to make decisions based on established tools, applications, and procedures responsible for leading and implementing plant launches and projects; Additionally, they should be skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities vital for the production of parts. Work will be performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative are exercised.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts.
  • providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
  • SORs and project management for tools, stations or technologies.
  • manufacturing process definition, sequence of operations, human factors consideration and efficient material flow
  • **Must be able to work rotating shifts and some weekends.

Additional Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 1- 3 years of Experience in PLC Programming and Manufacturing systems.
  • Proficient knowledge in Rockwell PLCs, Siemens HMIs, Fanuc Robots, AGVs.
  • Working knowledge of process equipment operations, sequence, error proofing and diagnostics capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of vision systems and bar code scanners (Matrox, Cognex, Keyence, SICK, Honeywell).
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networks (IECN).
  • Experience with Diagnosis process equipment failures.
  • Knowledge of Auto CAD and/or Electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of automated welding and adhesive/sealing dispense.
  • Knowledge in computing languages like VB, C+, .Net.
