Role Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op/Intern Student, you will be required to work with minimal direction, and will be encouraged to continually improve the operation of your area and equipment. The job will entail a close working relationship with production and maintenance personnel. You should view this position as an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a highly automated best-in-class automotive plant!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate project specifications and general designs for small projects

  • Assist senior engineers with equipment installations and start up

  • Provide technical support to the Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Safety departments

  • Make continuous improvements to existing tooling and equipment

  • Coordinate projects with maintenance, or contracted personnel

  • Involved in preventative maintenance and planning

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's degree with Co-Op in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics

  • Enrolled in a qualifying Ontario co‑operative education, or internship program (requirement to graduate)

  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada and for 12-month term (3 consecutive semesters) starting May 2023

  • Willing to work in a plant environment

  • Successful candidates will be required to attest to their vaccination status (or indicating that they do not wish to disclose), and any job offer will be conditional on the candidate providing that attestation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior manufacturing experience, knowledge of production environments, and in automotive industry

Desired Skills:

  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust

  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric

  • Excellent project management skills and the proven track record to manage numerous projects at any given

  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
