Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: The position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility, or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

In the Electrification New Markets Organization, we are looking for a Software and Controls Intern to join our team to develop software and controls solutions for new applications of GM's Ultium Battery technology and GM's HydroTec Fuel Cell technology beyond the vehicle, working towards a future with Zero Emissions. In the New Markets team, we use tools from start-up cultures, like Design Thinking, Rapid Prototyping, and Agile methodologies to build new growth business opportunities for General Motors.
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Co-Op student who will be joining a dynamic team that is developing new and innovative opportunities to apply GM’s battery electrification and fuel cell technologies to charging, stationary storage, locomotive, construction equipment and aerospace industries! You will be part of an agile team working to develop control system algorithms and software, perform system level testing, and data analysis in the support of new market projects. Key Responsibilities:

Support and develop control system, diagnostic algorithms, and software for electrification projects

Deploy and conduct testing of prototype software (simulation and bench)

Support software requirements development activities with customers and domain experts

Apply agile principles, and participate in scrum activities

Propose and implement changes based on findings
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
-
Pursuit of a Bachelor's (4th year students preferred but will consider qualified 3rd year students) or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science

Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada, and for 4-month term (1 semester) starting January 2024

Basic electrical and control systems knowledge

Experience reading and debugging source code in C

Familiar with MATLAB/Simulink and MicroAutoBox

Have a valid Full Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent Canadian out-of-province licence
