Cybersecurity Test Automation Software Engineer

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite at the GM Global Technical Center - Estes Engineering Center Tower three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business. We are looking for a talented and motivated candidate to join our team in our journey of defining and executing the backbone of our company's future -- the next generation Vehicle Electrical Architecture. The Product Cybersecurity team is looking for a Software Engineer that will develop and execute test automation of Cybersecurity solutions deployed to various areas of the vehicle architecture (In-vehicle Networks, Diagnostics, Flash Programming, and Software Platform). Activities include leading workgroup discussions with stakeholders from cross-functional areas and communicating in multiple forums and leadership levels to enable teams to make the best decisions related to the automation of the architecture infrastructure, the quality and reliability of our systems and deliver a product that exceeds our customers' expectations.

  • Lead cross functional workgroups to understand test requirements and develop comprehensive test plans.
  • Develop and maintain test scripts using Python testing Cybersecurity solutions deployed in the vehicle architecture
  • Execute test scripts and analyze test results to identify defects, performance issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Manage the team backlog and define priority for implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross functional workgroups to ensure test environment is properly setup.
  • Work closely with software developers and system engineers to ensure test coverage and validate system functionality.
  • Participate in test automation framework development and enhancement activities.
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously improve test processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in test automation and contribute to the adoption of new technologies and techniques.
  • Travel as required to support fulfillment of objectives.

Additional Job Description - Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in developing and executing test scripts using Python.
  • Familiarity with automotive protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic protocols (e.g., UDS).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify non-compliance to standards and resolve the issue.
  • Able to work independently with high degree of initiative.

Additional Description

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Understanding of software version control systems (e.g., Git).

Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : 93,400 - $149,200  . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
