Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC or Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

GM Motorsports Competition Engineering is seeking a Sports Car LMDh Chief Engineer to lead all technical aspects of the Cadillac LMDh Program. This role will be responsible for Performance, Reliability and Development of the car. This will require balancing internal and external groups that contribute to the design, development, and performance of the Cadillac LMDh by prioritizing program work from the overall program perspective. We are looking for a technical expert with many years of Motorsports experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Determine which technical areas of the Cadillac LMDh require improvement working within LMDh regulations and homologation

  • Set program work priorities based on program goals and balance resources available

  • Keep holistic view of technical issues for the program and resolution process

  • Reinforce collaboration and engineering support from the GM Motorsports Competition Engineering technical expertise groups

  • Reinforce in house development and improvement of software tools for the LMDh program

  • Prioritize and oversee in house engineering resource growth for LMDh program

  • Travel to select races, team shops, constructor locations, or sanctioning body headquarters as needed for hands on discussions and meetings

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering

  • Engineer with at least 15 years of Motorsports experience

  • Working in a motorsports leadership role for at least 5 years

  • Experience in racecar design, development, and manufacturing  

  • Experience as a race engineer in F1 or Premier Sportscar Series

  • Experience in vehicle dynamics, software, systems engineering, controls, and simulation.

  • Experience with propulsion and chassis performance integration.

  • Past roles with decision making experience and authority over the complete car or large subsystem.

  • Collaborative and team focused approach to setting priorities and problem solving

  • Open mindedness to new approaches to organization structure in motorsports

  • Regular Domestic and/or International Travel is Required

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in multiple motorsports platforms and series

  • Start-up experience – new program and/or new team

  • Experience in a Balance of Performance series
