This role requires an employee to be onsite in GM China campus on a full-time basis, also be flexibility to be presented to dealerships and meet with clients on a monthly basis.

  • The Role

Creative designer working independently responsible for creating new designs for automotive vehicles and other mobility products including but not limited to: color and trim, components, graphics, products, and other experiential and environment designs. Work collaboratively in a team of design personnel to achieve design goals as defined by leadership. Follow design process from initial sketches through final release of models. Present original design ideas and concepts in scale and full size sufficient to communicate thought process to management and leadership. Capable of developing 2D and 3D mock-ups of proposed design solutions. Works closely with team members and cross-functional partners in sculpting and engineering to negotiate criteria and communicate design intent. Understands program timelines and task completion in a deadline driven environment. In addition to the responsibilities of a Senior CMF designer, this role gains a unique opportunity to provide on-site support to high-end customers at our dealerships, which requires the ability to meet with clients, understand their design requirements, and support their customization needs.

  • What You’ll Do

- Create new and unique design (color and trim, components, graphics, products, and other experiential and environment designs) ideas and concepts under general supervision for automotive vehicles and other mobility products through traditional sketches as well as digitally through the use of 2D and 3D technology.

- Maintain knowledge of current design trends and technology. Present ideas frequently to management and leadership to communicate design ideas. Exhibit design courage and challenge expectations.

- Conduct insightful research and analysis to identify customer preferences and market trends

- Work closely with high-end customers at our dealerships to understand their design requirements and provide personalized customization options, providing expert advice and guidance to customers on CMF choices, ensuring their satisfaction and meeting their customization needs.

- Work duties involve a considerable amount of perception and creativity as well as a strong degree of skill and accuracy to deliver work in a deadline driven environment.
