Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on a full-time basis (Monday and Friday Home Office and the other days in person work).

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Design Release Engineer is responsible for releasing parts and subsystems for production. You will also lead in gathering, negotiating, updating, and documenting requirements for the assigned product and will be the single-point contact between GM and the supplier.

As a Design and Release Engineer you will participate in highly complex problems using quantitative and qualitative data to find solutions with a blend of program management and technical leadership.

You will lead and develop strategic solutions to achieve business initiatives for safety, warranty cost and quality.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Automotive or mechatronics Engineering.
  • Master's degree in engineering field (CREA required).
  • Experience in chassis product engineering and/or analysis:
  • Solid knowledge in designing, development, and optimization of Wheels, Brakes and Tires.
  • Good understanding of establishing loads and boundary conditions.
  • Good Background in Dynamics / Noise & Vibration.
  • Development and refinement of the solution imperatives (pc cost, tooling, mass, quality, performance, etc.) of the designs.
  • Includes significant packaging and functional integration work, as well as performance assessments, negotiating with competing components and requirements.
  • Perform competitive benchmarking of performance, cost, mass, etc.
  • Perform detailed investigation of the Health of the Parent (previous program) to make sure all past issues are addressed in new design.
  • Basic understanding of validation processes.
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical mechanisms.
  • Analytical ability to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills that focus and influence others, including those which may have priority differences with yours.
  • This position requires you to be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preference Qualifications)

  • Experience in the GM component specification and release process.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and electronic chassis systems.
  • DFSS Black Belt certification.
