This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center or the Mountain View Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.

Job Summary: As the Product Planning Lead at GM Energy, you will play a critical role in driving the development and execution of our energy products and solutions in support of customer EV adoption. As an industry leader, you will be responsible for managing market analysis and competitive intelligence to drive new product development. This role requires a deep understanding of the energy market, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.

  • Synthesize and communicate product portfolio strategy and competitive positioning.

  • Conduct and/or manage market research requests in support of product strategy and product discovery/management.

  • Assess sufficiency of the product portfolio against business strategy and other GM stakeholder needs.

  • Develop insights based on competitor and supplier activity at major global motor shows, technology shows, and symposiums.

  • Support Product Development teams with competitor insights and information, including competitive landscapes, product alerts for new competitive vehicles and propulsion systems.

  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and sales teams to define product requirements and specifications.

  • Recommend new product categories and manage assessments to close any portfolio gaps.

  • Model product portfolio against business strategy and other GM stakeholder needs.

  • Maintain competitor intelligence databases.

  • Develop and refine volume and financial forecasts that tie the product portfolio to the business plan.

  • Track, analyze, and report competitive, market, and technology trends that impact GM Energy product space.

  • Define and size market segments for GM Energy products (TAM, SAM).

  • Monitor and analyze product performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.

  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and incorporate it into product planning and development.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in energy technology.

Additional Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • 5+ years proven experience in product planning, product management, or a related role in the energy industry.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of energy markets, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability practices.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington. 

  • The salary range for this role is ($98,900 - $158,000 ). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
