This is position will be located onsite in Milford, MI 5 days per week.

The Role:

BrightDrop is seeking a Validation Engineer to ensure product and system quality. You will be responsible for generating test plans, developing test procedures and methods, executing testing internally or with third party labs and documenting results. You will work closely with mechanical product engineers, performance engineers, software engineers and suppliers to develop validation and reliability test plans to support production launches and advanced development projects. Product validation includes the evaluation of mechanical and electrical components, electromechanical systems and software intensive products.

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent mathematical and analytical skills, as well as knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g. MATLAB) and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop plans and schedules, and test criteria and requirements

  • Prepare & conduct tests

  • Report ADV Status

  • Support quality processes

  • Lead and support evaluation procedure development

  • Gain and submit best practices, lessons learned and customer surveys

  • Support ADV process to reduce Hardware and to realize RLM (Road- Lab-Math) strategy

  • Lead export validation activities in foreign countries with local partners

  • Support vehicle validation - type approval activities

  • Lead work with internal and external customers and suppliers; participate in problem solving teams; participate in DFMEA work groups

  • Build and lead vehicle and/or commodity ADV sub-plans

  • Review program/process results; document and update product/process knowledge

  • Analyzes and interprets resulting data from tests (resolves data anomalies)

  • Prepares formal written test reports

  • Maintains frequent communication with customers and cross-functional team members

Additional Description

Minimum Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware testing and reliability.

  • Experience creating and executing test plans for electrical components, electromechanical systems and software intensive products.

  • Ability to write detailed test plans consistent with product needs.

  • Statistical Analysis capability (Weibull/ Reliability and Confidence). Knowledge of statistical analysis software (such as MATLAB) and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with regulatory requirements desired. 

  • Familiarity with automotive test requirements such as GMW3172 is a plus.

  • High level of project management skills.

  • Positive attitude and willingness to help.

  • High level of independent judgment and decision making. Collaborate with engineers and technicians on projects.

  • Ability to work comfortably and effectively with a cross functional team.

  • Action-oriented and drives for results.

  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines (mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job related area.
