The Role
The Data Science Manager in Marketing Applied Sciences, Measurement Science, will lead a talented team of data scientists who will drive solution design, development, and deployment of statistical and AI/ML models to solve for marketing optimization. The ideal candidate will be an expert in media mix modeling with experience in other data science, statistical modeling, and machine learning projects. They will also bring in proven leadership skills to inspire innovation and excellence across the team. In addition to being able to coach and mentor the team, this role also requires the candidate to have good business acumen, business consulting skills, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
As a leader with a strong technical background, you will lead a team of hands-on data science practitioners who are focused on scaling data science work and accelerating time-to-delivery in insights related to marketing budget allocation and near real-time media optimization.
You have balance – you can strike the right chord of technical mastery, leadership and coaching, humbly elevating and advocating for your team – with an equilibrium of storytelling, showing influence and strategic focus for peers and leaders of supporting functions, enabling them to drive revenue growth and efficiency. Our team is focused on delivering future-focused, consumer-centric, prescriptive solutions that allow GM to stay proactive and nimble in our exciting transition to EVs.

- Drives strategy and implementation of large projects impacting multiple departments.
- Is accountable for workforce planning, operational and often financial decisions in the area managed.
- Sets objectives and owns the delivery of metrics and Key Performance Indicators that have direct impact on the achievement of the results in the job area, have measurable contribution into functional results and align with the GM strategic priorities.

What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage a team of data scientists, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure successful project delivery and professional growth
- Develop scalable marketing measurement solutions that speed time-to-delivery and have significant business value for our Marketing team
- Develop and oversee the execution of media mix models and marketing attribution from ideation to deployment, ensuring they meet quality, scope, and timeline objectives
- Collaborate across the Marketing Applied Sciences team, along with business stakeholders, to identify, frame, develop, and execute high-impact analytics projects successfully
- Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements in data science and AI/ML to drive innovation within the team
- Foster a culture of collaboration, experimentation, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing within the data science team and broader community
- Manage and allocate team resources effectively to support project needs and team growth

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 7+ years of experience in Data Science in a corporate setting
- 2+ years of experience in leading teams that built media mix modeling and marketing measurement work
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Marketing, Physics, or other quantitative field
- Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning and/or deep learning techniques, including one or more of the following analytical methodologies: media mix modeling, marketing incrementality measurement, propensity models, pricing, forecasting
- Proficiency in data science programming languages such as Python or R and MMM packages such as robyn, pymc-marketing, lightweightmmm or meridian
- Prior experience with Cloud platforms such as Databricks /Azure or AWS
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
- Proven track record of managing data science projects from concept to implementation, delivering impactful business outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong business consulting skills; ability to evaluate the big picture and solve strategic business problems
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, develop, and evaluate high-performing talent
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days].
A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.
Compensation:
- The expected base compensation for this role is: $160,200 - $258,700. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
