The Role
You will be responsible for sourcing Technology purchases (Software, Software as a Service, Infrastructure) on a regional and global basis. Primary responsibility is to develop, negotiate and implement sourcing strategies by collaborating with key stakeholders on engineering, technology requirements, IT, security and legal, which then requires preparing and completing sourcing recommendations to various levels of management.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Understand the Automotive, Software, IT industry and the long-term direction GM software is headed.

Determine viable suppliers for technology requirements.

Develop global commodity strategies
-
Develop and manage suppliers under the guidance of Quality, Service, Technology, and Price strategies. This includes sound understanding of deadlines, required lead times, supplier contracts and application types.

Active participation with key stakeholders, including engineering, IT, the business stakeholder, Legal, and Security.

Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines.

Adheres to Corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures.

Negotiate price, terms, and other items to complete full contract package.

Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Sourcing Process to manage Sourcing packages.

Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Sourcing Process (Request for Quotation, Analysis of Quotation, Source Selection) to establish a capable/competitive supply base.

Develop benchmarking for each sourcing package.

Participate in supplier KPI reviews

The salary range for this role is ( 122,700- 196,200 ). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

5 years post graduate experience in purchasing, program/product management or product development

Project Management Skills

Understand basic and advanced technology (licensing and Legal) concepts

High level knowledge about software/technology (Software, SaaS, IT Emerging Technologies)

Analytical skills, including the ability to do in-depth benchmarking

Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals

Knowledge of computer software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Research)

SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems

Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field (i.e. Supply Chain Management, Finance) or Information Technology

Software or Cloud Services experience

Cost analysis or software development experience

Automotive industry experience

Knowledge of software development processes/standards

Capable of interpreting market data

Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
