GM Motorsports Performance Engineering is seeking a Nascar Data Acquisition Engineer for the GM Motorsports Data Acquisition group that supports Nascar Cup, Xfinity, Truck, and IndyCar programs to instrument and record all data required during on track, wind tunnel, and lab testing. The Motorsports Data Acquisition Engineer will work with racing programs during all stages of life. Travel to the races on a regular basis will not be required but live support at all test sessions and some key races may be requested. Test data analysis will be required during and immediately following each test/race.

The ability to work collaboratively with the various members of the program teams will be key to your success. We will expect you to be capable of thinking analytically, be customer-focused, and be highly structured with excellent relationships and communicative skills. You must be able to multi-task in a dynamic constantly evolving environment and bring a strong work ethic and integrity.

Experience with race vehicle data acquisition system installation, calibration, development, and analysis is desired. Knowledge and experience with Cosworth Pi based data acquisition systems and software is very critical to this position and is preferred. Wiring experience with Autosport, Souriau, Molex, and Amphenol style connectors is desired. Knowledge of Raychem tubing, boots, and wire protection products and ability to properly implement them is desired. Ability to build, repair, and test small wiring looms and sensor extensions is preferred. Sensor maintenance, calibration, and designed is preferred. Understanding of CAN based sensor and data acquisition system wiring is strongly desired.

Additional Description

Requirements:

  • BS of Engineering is desired

  • 3+ years racing / high-performance vehicle experience

  • Professional Racing Data Acquisition experience

  • Participation in racing, either professional or amateur, highly desired

  • Cosworth Pi Research DAQ experience preferred

  • Wind Tunnel Experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics and/or aerodynamics preferred

  • Ability to balance multiple programs efficiently

  • DFSS Black Belt preferred

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed

  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
