This role supports the activities of GM’s ISRM Cyber Protect and Prevent team.  The security solution engineer will be responsible for architecting, evaluating, and implementing security solutions including those used for data encryption.  This role will also be responsible for conducting analyses of installed security systems and measuring the effectiveness to recommend areas of improvement. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the implementation and support of GM’s data encryption solution
  • Manage a dedicated Kubernetes cluster supporting data encryption
  • Install and maintain various security applications on Linux, Windows, and Kubernetes
  • Assess existing workflows and procedures to simplify and streamline security operations
  • Evaluate and determine effectiveness of security tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security application data in a data lake
  • Work directly with third party vendors to implement solutions compliant with established IT standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and implement effective security solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and vulnerabilities
  • Security and Cyber background preferred

Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $90,200 - $144,100  . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field with adequate experience in the field of information security is acceptable.
  • Experience with Kubernetes architecture including ADO pipelines for deployment
  • Experience with cryptographic keys and secret management
  • Hands on experience with CHEF for deploying and updating applications
  • Familiar with data encryption technologies
  • Experience with SQL database architecture
  • Hands-on experience with commercial and open-source security tools
  • Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and CIS Controls
  • Experience in the security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications, and network protocols
  • Demonstrate sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
