Description
Hybrid: Position does not require and employee to be on-site full-time- but the general expectation is that the employee be on-site and average of three (3) days each week.
The Role
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the Program Execution for Machine Controls and Robotics. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)

Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts

Manage deliveries to program timing milestones

Provide project report outs to senior management

Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)

Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers/plants

Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers.

Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems
-
Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology

Travel as required
Additional Description
Your Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications)
-
5+ years of experience as a controls/robotics engineer
-
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent experience/training
-
Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment

Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process

Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Devicenet networks
-
Knowledge of servo motors, motion control and drives
-
Experience in Fanuc robots setup and programming
-
Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results

Proven ability in project management skills

Multiple different manufacturing controls and/or robotics assignments with successful individual achievements

Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems
What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work

General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus

Understanding of GMS and 4 walls within the site or program

Prior work experience as a controls engineer in the automotive field

Knowledge of GM’s global controls architecture
