Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advanced Technical C in Shanghai, China five times per week.
The Role -
The Sensors Alignment Engineer is responsible for ensuring the precise calibration, alignment, and testing of automotive sensors throughout the product life cycle – covering development, manufacturing, and service stages.
The role focuses on creating and driving the efficiency and accuracy of sensors alignment processes across at manufacturing line as well as the on-line, and service facilities. The objective is to ensure sensor integration meets quality and performance standards. The engineer will work close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to vendor, manufacturing, quality assurance, and SW development partner, to ensure high quality sensor performance throughout product life cycle.
What You’ll Do -
- Sensors Alignment:
- Oversee and optimize the alignment processes of various automotive sensors (radar, LiDAR, cameras, etc.) during development, the manufacturing EOL stage, and aftersales services.
- Implement best practices to maximize sensor accuracy and minimize resource consumption and cycle times.
- Collaborate with HW/SW, functional safety, and perception teams to integrate advanced calibration methodologies.
- Demonstrate functionality of various alignment at various development milestones
- EOL Testing & Validation:
- Design, develop, and maintain end-of-line and service testing procedures to validate sensor functionality.
- Analyze test results and work with quality assurance to address performance issues throughout development and deployment of product.
- Continuously improve alignment testing standards to meet evolving industry safety and performance requirements.
- Process Optimization:
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and streamline the sensor alignment process.
- Implement process improvements through data-driven analysis, statistical tools, and automation to maintain production targets without compromising sensor quality.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Interface with suppliers, multi-regional software developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment across sensor system design, production requirements, and quality standards.
- Maintain and update design requirements and alignment documentation and work instructions for manufacturing personnel.
- Provide feedback to R&D teams for next-generation sensor technology improvements.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve sensor alignment or calibration issues that occur at the plants and at service.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams for problem-solving and implementation of corrective actions.

Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in sensor calibration, automotive manufacturing, or EOL processes.
- Experience with calibration tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, CANalyzer, Vector tools, VSPY).
- Strong understanding of sensor technologies such as cameras, radar, LiDAR, etc.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to work with complex sensor systems and multi-sensor fusion.
- Familiarity with ground truthing sensor concept
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with automotive production processes and quality standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IATF 16949).
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools for process optimization (Six Sigma, FMEA).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Other:
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with occasional travel to production sites.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work standards.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with autonomous driving or ADAS sensor systems.
- Knowledge of advanced automotive technologies, including LiDAR, HD maps, and GNSS.
