Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint, Michigan, on a full-time basis.
The Role
-
Lead problem-solving activities to address identified failures and meet prescribed exit criteria.
-
Analyze reject/scrap data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
-
Work independently under the general direction of the Launch Quality Lead and site Quality Manager.
-
Demonstrate a high level of perception and initiative to ensure a flawless launch.
-
Clearly define problems, provide technical mentorship on complex issues, and provide regular progress updates.
What You'll Do
-
Track and analyze all results related to quality.
-
Initiate formal problem-solving activities for all failures and coordinate resources to identify root causes and meet prescribed exit criteria.

Coordinate input from internal and external customers to better understand their needs and perceptions.
-
Maintain documentation of Launch Manufacturing Quality Readiness Reviews.
-
Manage projects as requested by the Quality Shop Director.
-
Maintain updates to Quality Requirements and deviations from plants.
-
Maintain Cost of Quality reports by Plant.
-
Establish a course of action and coordinate/support activities to ensure a flawless launch.
-
Function as a Business Planner for the Quality area, supporting new engine facility, including Business Plan Deployment (BPD), manpower planning, hiring/staffing, etc.

Develop an effective daily/weekly Quality routine that adheres to GM Global Quality Management System (QMS) and aligns with current plant processes.

Work with Central Manufacturing Engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers to coordinate the timing of equipment installation with production requirements.

Align with plant Basketweave teams to integrate common plant GMS processes into Quality through effective Production Launch Operations Wall (PLOW) execution.

Lead the execution of the Operator Support Tracking System (OSTS) and Operation Readiness processes for Quality to ensure readiness for all build events and the start of regular production.

Lead quality strategies to support pre-production build events, run-at-rate, and ramp up leading to the start of regular production (SORP).

Plan and execute training for the team.

Your Skills & Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Production/Operation Management or Manufacturing related field or equivalent training with 1-2 years of experience in Manufacturing and/or Quality.

Experience in Manufacturing and/ or Quality
-
Managerial Courage to provide direct, honest, and constructive feedback to suppliers/customers in a subtle and professional manner.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others inside and outside the work group and site.

Highly organized and self-directed.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results.

Highly effective oral and written communication skills.

High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

Knowledge of formal Problem Solving techniques.

Ability to effectively use computer software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Product and process knowledge of engine manufacturing (Machining and Assembly)

Knowledge of engine machining and assembly quality processes

Knowledge of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Experience with component traceability systems

Experience with formal problem resolution and reporting systems (PR&R / PRTS)

Experience with formal defect tracking processes (GSIP)

Proficiency and knowledge of lean manufacturing quality strategies (GMS-BIQ)
