Description
The role of the Lead Sub Export Compliance Officer (ECO) for Software and Services Engineering (S&SE) includes developing, executing, and upholding processes, procedures, and controls in compliance with export laws and regulations. This position necessitates close cooperation with the GM's Office of Export Compliance, Export Compliance Officer, and the Sub-ECO Team. The assignments are complex and involve cooperative efforts with various business areas. This position demands high levels of initiative, accuracy, attention to detail, analytical skills, risk assessment, and strong sense of urgency.
Remote : This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of (Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Pontiac, Milford, or Mountain View), you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

Major Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Identify and report S&SE export activities to the Export Compliance Officer (ECO) and ensure that such activities are performed in accordance with all applicable export laws and regulations
- Establish, implement, and maintain export compliance procedures that are easily accessible and validated yearly for S&SE organization
- Conduct risk assessments of S&SE activities and ensure processes are developed to safeguard compliance with all applicable export laws and regulations. (U.S. and local laws)
- Appropriately classify software, hardware, and technical data
- Perform annual export assessment to mitigate program risks
- Assist the Export Compliance Officer (ECO) in meeting export compliance audit and review requirements
- Conduct logistics service provider audit for international shipments
- Ensure Office of Export Compliance (OEC) Scorecard requirements are met for S&SE
- Identify and report potential export violations to the ECO, OEC and assist in resolving any issues
- Communicate applicable export compliance information throughout S&SE Organization, including news, regulatory information, GM policies and procedures
- Lead multi-functional export compliance meetings for training and communication
- Establish and/or participate in subcommittees to handle complex export compliance issues
- Own and maintain the S&SE Export compliance SharePoint site

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in export compliance, trade compliance, or related field
- Experience in developing communications, presentations, and reporting out to senior management
- Proficient at identifying issues, performing root cause analysis, and analyzing data
- Self-starter who can work independently and as a member of a team
- Effectively manages a variety of responsibilities simultaneously
- Skilled at collaborating with others at all levels of the organization and across global regions
- Quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Enjoy working in environment of ambiguity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Highly skilled in understanding regulatory/legal documentation
- Designed for Six Sigma (DFSS) Greenbelt
- Designed for Six Sigma (DFSS) Blackbelt
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington
- Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $117,800 - $184,300 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
