Onsite This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to our facility in Milford, Michigan on a full-time basis.

The Role  

The Operations Group Manager is a people leader who is responsible for developing strategies, looking ahead and growing the capacity for future success. They have ultimate responsibility for providing leadership and mentorship to the facilities operations team, ensuring overall success of the team.

What You'll Do

  • Lead critical planning activities to support the global platform on campus including hourly and salary headcount forecast and utilization, budgets and project funding, space planning, resource management and labor agreements with unions

  • Drive Infrastructure and Corporate Citizenship’s Vision and Strategy which defines the value the operations team will add to the changing GM community

  • Passionately communicate the benefit of the operations teams throughout the value streams in manufacturing and non-manufacturing

  • Model a robust safety culture and inspire the team to transform our presence in safety

  • Drive attainment of daily facility operational goals on the campus (enabling consistent facility management, maintenance, energy supply, cleanliness, environmental compliance and material handling initiatives)

  • Business Partner development – Grow a diverse supplier base and continuously improve skillset of engaged suppliers tasked with continuous workspace excellence

  • Business Integration – Prioritization of development needs in operations coupled with precise integration of those priorities in Infrastructure and Corporate Citizenship's engineering and project planning

  • Comprehensive enterprise planning, including support of operations in asset sustainment prioritization and strategy

  • Represent GM as the Labor leader for the facility space and work to ensure contractual agreements meet the intent of the campus.

  • Develop Continuous improvement mindset throughout the team. Ensure GMS is the foundation for continuous improvement via empowered team members lead by our business partners.

  • Develop leaders able to articulate and execute the vision

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) ​​

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Management or related degree

  • 5+ years’ experience in facilities operations or related field

  • Strong computer skills including being proficient at Microsoft Office software

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

  • Strong problem solving/decision making skills

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to track, develop, and interpret metrics

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 8+ years’ experience in facilities operations or related field

  • Previous people leader experience
