Description
Work Arrangement: Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Oshawa or Markham office three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where innovation is the norm? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as a Senior Controls Developer specializing in Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) and/or in-house mechanical AWD.
Our team is working on advanced control methods to design and develop Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) software. VMC is a supervisory controller for torque vectoring for multi-axle electric vehicles. The objective of VMC is to distribute torque to all available axles to meet the driver’s total torque request while achieving the optimal traction and lateral motion from the vehicle dynamics perspective. In addition to electric motors, vehicle motion control can also command other actuators such as active rear steering to optimize vehicle lateral motion. We are looking for a senior controls developer that can lead the design and development of various VMC features in collaboration with the Next Generation Controls team, SSLEs, FSAs and the calibration team.
As a Senior Controls Developer for Vehicle Motion Control, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing advanced control algorithms to optimize torque distribution across multiple axles of electric vehicles. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring optimal traction, stability, and vehicle dynamics, while also maximizing energy efficiency and driver satisfaction.
There will also be the opportunity to work on GM's in-house software for mechanical AWD system.

-
Lead the design and development of various VMC and/or mechanical AWD features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
-
Develop and implement control and diagnostic algorithms using advanced tools such as MATLAB or C.
-
Support the development of requirements and ensure compliance with safety and government regulations.
-
Analyze vehicle dynamic conditions and provide feedback on feature/system design.
-
Define software unit tests, conduct hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle tests, and ensure thorough software testing.
-
Support resolution of vehicle, plant, or customer issues related to controls and calibration.
-
Mentor new team members to foster capability growth and knowledge sharing.
