Help Build the Brains Behind the Ride.
Join a high-impact team shaping the future of vehicle software integration at GM. As a Controller Integration Engineer (CIE) within the S&S Vehicle Software Execution group, you'll be at the heart of innovation—working hands-on with vehicles, navigating complex technical puzzles, and collaborating across multiple disciplines to bring software to life inside the cars of tomorrow.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key technical interface between our core engineering teams and the end-users of vehicle software—from performance engineers to quality and safety experts. If you’re driven by curiosity, thrive in ambiguity, and love getting under the hood (literally and digitally), this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute Vehicle Software Configuration Management (VeSCoM) Processes

  • Create test plans based off Controls Development Plan

  • Perform Controls Development Plan (CDP) testing

  • Document CDP testing results

  • Root cause software issues found during CDP testing

  • Create VeSCoM documentation (Release notes, create archives, controller ID files, hardware dependencies, new features, known issues/anomalies, etc.) for each VeSCoM software release and upload to Soft Parts Release (SPR)

  • Support vehicle prep for Buy Off Rides

  • Support Program Lead Software Integration Engineer (PLSIE), Vehicle Controls Integration Team (VCIT) and program SW VSE

  • Document (PRTS/JIRA) & report software and calibration anomalies to VCIT during development for overall functionality

  • Support vehicle software updates if users need support flashing software

  • Identify preliminary root cause and system impacts for SW/Cal issues from vehicle development (buy off rides, test trips, general fleet usage, durability, VeSCoM Checkout, etc.)

  • Expedite root cause by monitoring multiple modules simultaneously to pin-point responsible module

  • Participate in vehicle build events and buy off rides, as required

  • Ensure safe test-ready vehicles by identifying VeSCoM level is valid

  • Prep vehicle(s) for Functional Safety Integration Engineer (FSIE)

  • Mentor other CIEs
