Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Fort Wayne, IN on a full-time basis.

The Role:
Industrial engineer is responsible for overall plant Lean Material Strategies including material flow, material routings, storage space requirements, mobile equipment, layout development, container development, storage areas, kitting, small lot strategy, sequence planning, PFEP, etc. The work is of a technical nature focused on complex manufacturing processes that involves understanding the assembly environment. Key Deliverables will be to develop and execute all phases of Lean Material Systems to create the most efficient, leanest designs for the entire GM Enterprise. This individual will work with all levels of a cross functional team to drive CIP, support steady state improvements, and drive established best practices into the Assembly plant. Significant use of independent judgment is required. Involves training others and extensive work in cross-functional team environment.
What You’ll Do: Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Standardize material flow and material handling processes and measure plant compliance
- Standardize Internal Benchmarks for material flow and material handling processes
- Calculate HC opportunity based plant and regional gaps to IBM
- Institutionalize best practices and measure plant and regional compliance
- Route Planning, Dock Strategies, Material Flow,
- Support the Manufacturing Launch team at the plant and Program Team
- Develop and apply Lean Material Strategies (LMS) to design standards
- Drive & execute common standards, processes, and lean designs.
- Integrate Lean Manufacturing and GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles
- Support PFMEA process
- Drive problem solving issues for throughput and quality issues
- Support BIQ objectives
- Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements(CI)
- Optimize floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment
- Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and ergonomic guidelines
- Facilities design, layout, and processes that reduce cost/ achieve operational efficiencies.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 1 years of experience in Industrial Engineering
- 1-2 years of experience optimizing the flow of materials and processes within the manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with Autocad, Factory cad or equivalent, MS-Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
- High level of analytical ability & problem solving where problems are unusual and difficult
- Knowledge of work measurement/work standards, ergonomic principles, material optimization, and facility layout strongly preferred
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
- Knowledge of supply chain process
- High level of communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to present findings to all levels of the organization.
- Must have flexibility to occasionally cover off-shift
