Work Arrangement: Hybrid – This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View, CA, Austin, TX, or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic software development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance user interfaces and scalable backend services that power GM’s next-generation eCommerce experiences. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across functions to deliver seamless and engaging customer-facing solutions.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key initiatives including the redesign of our Notifications Platform and the broader evolution of our OnStar services ecosystem. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with deep proficiency in front-end technologies and a strong understanding of backend integration, who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
What You’ll Do

Develop and maintain responsive, accessible full-stack applications that meet product and design specifications.

Collaborate with product, UX , and backend teams to translate wireframes and business requirements into high-quality code.

Implement best practices in code structure, style, testing, and documentation to ensure long-term maintainability and performance.

Integrate RESTful APIs and services to create seamless cross-platform user experiences.

Drive performance optimization , scalability, and reliability across front-end and backend components.

Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

Resolve production issues quickly and effectively to maintain uptime and customer satisfaction.

Explore and recommend modern frameworks, tools, and processes to improve development workflows.

Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of project goals.

Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, openness, and cross-functional teamwork.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

5+ years of professional experience in front-end and full-stack software development.

Strong proficiency in JavaScript , HTML5, and CSS3.

Deep experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React (others like Vue or Angular also applicable).

Familiarity with Shopify’s Hydrogen or similar eCommerce-focused frameworks.

Experience with CSS pre-processors (e.g., SASS/SCSS) and CSS -in-JS libraries.

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and backend integration strategies.

Demonstrated expertise in responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Strong team player with a proven ability to work in a collaborative hybrid environment.

Familiarity with the Shopify Plus toolset including Hydrogen, Oxygen, and its supporting ecosystem.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Advanced experience with React Hooks , Redux , or Context API .

Familiarity with TypeScript .

Knowledge of build tools and bundlers such as Webpack or Vite .

Experience with testing frameworks like Jest , Cypress , or React Testing Library .

Exposure to eCommerce platform architecture and domain knowledge.

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
- The salary range for this role is 158,000 to 241,900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
