Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren, MI or Austin, TX Tech Center three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Team:

GM Global Manufacturing transforms new automotive product designs into reality and is comprised of approximately 97,000 employees at over 117 sites across 12 countries. GM Global Manufacturing is a key element in the transformation toward Electric Vehicles in General Motors and works throughout the Vehicle and Propulsion Development Process culminating in the launch of exciting new products in our manufacturing plants.

The GM Manufacturing Information Technology (IT) team plays a vital role in creating and implementing IT solutions which enable the manufacturing of Vehicles and Propulsion Systems using the digital manufacturing process and system design integrating seamlessly with production critical Manufacturing Executions Systems.

GM Global Manufacturing enabled by GM Manufacturing IT is on the journey towards Factory of the Future with integrated manufacturing concepts leveraging the highest levels of automation and in-process quality assurance. Manufacturing IT collaborates closely with our business partners to develop the information system strategies and systems to translate breakthrough technologies into vehicles and experiences that people love. 

The Role:

We are seeking an AI Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about developing innovative solutions at the intersection of AI and software engineering. You will play a key role in building AI-enhanced applications while working across front-end and back-end technologies. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn, grow, and contribute to cutting-edge software development with AI integration.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications leveraging React (Front-End) and .NET/C# (Back-End).
  • Design and implement AI-powered features, including machine learning models and data processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable AI-driven solutions in a production environment.
  • Optimize UI/UX for AI-powered applications, ensuring seamless user interaction and performance.
  • Implement secure and efficient API integrations to support AI functionalities.
  • Contribute to system architecture, ensuring best practices in code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Work with cloud platforms (Azure) to deploy and manage AI-enhanced applications efficiently.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of software engineering experience, with expertise in full-stack development.
  • Proficiency in React.js or Angular for front-end development and .NET, C# for back-end services.
  • Experience in integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software development best practices.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and database management.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience working with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or other AI frameworks.
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices for deploying and managing AI models.
  • Understanding of DevOps tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Background in data visualization and AI model performance tuning.
  • Exposure to ethical AI principles, ensuring inclusive and responsible AI development.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that enhances AI-integrated applications.
