Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business. Demonstrate deep functional knowledge, had breadth of experiences to work autonomously on the most complex business issues, may assist Leadership with strategy development
The Role
Serve as a Finance partner to Operating Staff with timely and relevant reporting and analysis that drives the most informed business decisions. Provide analysis, insights and recommendations that drive profitability, mitigate risks and offer solutions to business problems.

Proactively analyze business results (vs. forecast, budget and prior year) to identify trends, risks and optimize business results

Apply financial analysis tools and work experiences to influence current and future profitability (e.g. financial models, business cases, run rate, advanced data analytics)

Prepare reporting package with insight for monthly operating review and /or Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), anticipating logical questions based on content

Operate autonomously, where ambiguity and time constraints exist

Lead the budget and MTP development. Analyze trends to establish bold yet achievable targets

Lead financial analysis as a member of cross functional teams (e.g. OpEx, new business opportunity)

Provide coaching / mentorship to new employees / interns

- Effectively communicate financial performance and results of analysis performed to Senior Finance Leadership and key business partners anticipating questions

Proactively seeks opportunities to grow (e.g. develops new skills, attend training opportunities, network, feedback)
What You’ll Do

Responsible for operationally leading and executing from GL perspective and providing technical support to Analyst and Junior Analyst:

Monthly closing and Reporting as per US GAAP
-
Account reconciliation excellence

Annual closing as per US GAAP

Perform critical tasks
-
Review and/or Approve Journal Entries and account reconciliation
-
Ensures compliance with GM Corporate policies and external regulatory requirements
-
Provide technical support for internal and external audits
-
Maintain relationships with other engagement teams (External Audit Team - E&Y, Internal Controls, GBS/GM Controllership) and monitor teams’ progress against plan and drive performance as required.

Has strong control focus – identify and drives issue resolution (accounting or control related)

Is capable of presenting to Senior Leadership and consolidating information in a clear and understandable matter

Self-starter and able to accomplish assigned tasks with minimum supervision

Has a strong focus on process improvements to drive quality accounting and compliance

Frequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasks

Leading Team Special Projects (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)

Help the team to execute testing program for SOX compliance/ICFR testing activities and document results.

Assist in the identification of standard user access profile for the whole team.

Lead and Identify Process Improvement to eliminate waste, to execute and to implement new approach.

Support the team in various areas of financial analysis including one or all of the following: monthly journal entries/adjustment, account reconciliation, variance analysis, forecasting and budgeting and issue resolution.

Create, update and formulate new and existing business and management reports not limited to Monthly Internal Operations Review, KPIs and SLAs, and Pre and Post Close Review.

Provide highly analytical insights and solutions to interpret business results and address any risk exposures, issues and challenges

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree with major in accounting, business administration, or finance
- Advance knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States (U.S. GAAP), emphasizing an in-depth understanding of the applicable business and accounting issues, and technical accounting and financial reporting standards. – Additionally, continue to attend training on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable
- Working knowledge of SAP and other GM systems as required for the assigned position (systems and level of knowledge necessary will vary – employee must be willing to continually learn the GM systems landscape and functionality)
