Description
Designs, develops, implements, and analyzes technical products and systems. Performs engineering design evaluations and develops a range of products. Participates in the design and execution of future and legacy converters. Oversees technical requirements of the Onboard Charging Module (OBCM) and the evaluation of 400Vdc and 800Vdc power electronics designs. Ensures robust technical solutions are developed and released for each phase of the program. Develops applications that are based on power electronics, considering national and international standards, physical dimensions, thermal properties, and coolant requirements. Addresses technical issues related to component integration at the vehicle manufacturing and development stages. Collaborate with and offer technical assistance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers of power electronics. Participate in primary/critical design review and verification of the OBCM topology selection by the lead supplier. Finds opportunities for improved specifications and best practices, especially on the software design of the components. Implements the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Reuse Strategy. Executes root cause and problem resolution of vehicle, component development or validation issues. Works with component validation engineers to develop and approve component validation plans and review software validation results in CICVAD. Sets priority and urgency for Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Problem Resolution, and Development and Validation Plans. Employs Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) analysis as a decision-making tool for design trade-off activities and decision-making. Champions DFSS, complex trade-off, and root cause assessments. Completes warranty reduction efforts on current product programs. Collaborates with the vehicle integration team, to establish the power conversion enable-disable conditions, LIN/CAN/Ethernet specifications, voltage/current control set, and sensor requirements to design the control interface for OBCM. Oversees technical approval of the supplier list by reviewing the design and communicating with the supplier. Conducts functional tests for high voltage charging and discharging. Assists in the development of advanced technology projects for the system design of future software-defined vehicles. Analyzes the performance and robustness of power converter designs in the worst-case scenario. Incorporates lessons learned into the converter's statement of requirements (SOR) and bill of design. Leads the DFMEA evaluations to guarantee that the design complies. Develops a software release plan by working with the program teams and ensures that the supplier follows on-time deliverables. Supports the Buy-Off-Rides (BoRs) and bench testing. Identifies the correct VeSCoMs by working with the software VSE (Vehicle system engineer) and releases the software in Soft Part Release (SPR) system. Maintains the module library in SPR and ensures that it up-to-date. Coordinates the Design Integration Testing (DIT) and ensures that the software performs as intended, follows up with any issues with the supplier and ensures that supplier complies to issues resolution, and work out plan for late deliverables. Addresses technical issues related to field warranties. Analyzes fault log data by accumulating controller area network (CAN), local interconnect network (LIN), and Automotive Ethernet logs. Assists in the planning of design completion dates and ensure that designs are completed according to the established schedule. Develops and safeguards intellectual property. Hybrid Work Policy – 3 days In-Office, 2 Days Remote – Must be able to report to local office.
