Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for the development of math design solutions to meet complex system and subsystem requirements. The Senior Design Engineer will perform as an expert in design and engineering best practices, and expert in GM CAD Tools, Data Management System, Windows Suite, and VisMockup. You will exercise highly independent judgment and creative solution development with minimal direction from the Technical Design Leader. You will be highly skilled in CAD Tools and the development of Standard Model Methods of your component / subsystem area.  Must have strong knowledge in applying GD&T to your drawings.

A general understanding of all propulsion components required with a detailed design knowledge of engines, transmissions, and drive units.  Must have a vast knowledge of designing for manufacturing processes, such as, castings, stampings, plastic moldings, to name a few.

What You'll Do

  • Mentor for system/subsystem requirement, and GM CAD and Data Management System
  • Work to compressed timelines to complete required design deadlines
  • Develop, refine, and complete drawings for individual components and assemblies
  • Owner of Standard Modeling Methods or Virtual Integration Methods
  • Proficient in and able to teach Design Standards, Best Practices and Global Design info BOOK Standards
  • Demonstrated application of design operations and processes (Standard modeling, Clearance Analysis, Engine Assembly Structure, Global Data Security, etc.)
  • Facilitate and participate in design / virtual reviews, both scheduled and informal as required
  • Document and maintains material, mass, and other part specifications within the math file
  • Support CAE with studies to improve designs
  • Complete, analyzes and apply NX analysis results to solution set for their subsystem / components
  • Very knowledgeable and experienced with development process and the math fidelity
  • Independently integrate component subsystem designs into systems
  • Perform appropriate studies/alternatives / layouts, and participate in recommendations to program direction
  • Support lessons learned through updating best practices and learning sessions with Designers
  • Lead and create math data (models) or virtual layouts of very advanced and complex components, systems and subsystems
  • Dedicatedly communicates effectively with all partners
  • Actively identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities
  • Proactively communicate with Design Manager, DLT and DRE regarding project status, timing, and technical issues.
  • You will ensure high quality, on time math release of components and subsystems

  • 12+ years of design experience

  • Drive unit design knowledge

  • 10+ years NX model experience

  • 10+ years Teamcenter experience

  • Engine design knowledge

  • Knowledge of battery design

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Knowledge of power electronics design​
