Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, Mi. three times a week, at minimum.
The Role:
The New Architecture Technical Specialist (NATS) is a technical leader in the Controller Integration organization. They are responsible for delivering an operational development environment by integrating application code and HWIO on new and prototype controllers. They act as the software architecture strategist for future products ensuring the organization is considering solutions that are optimized across the controller system. They provide technical leadership for advanced cross functional technology development and design analysis. NATS need to partner effectively and earn the respect and trust of peers and technical review boards. They must collaborate across disciplines and organizational boundaries to achieve customer focused results.
What You’ll Do (Job Responsibilities):

Deliver operational systems using software bench, debuggers, compilers, and instrumentation

Prioritize integration and test activities for initial controller deployment
-
Manage HWIO delivery and validation for initial controller deployment
-
Manage memory layout for new controller architectures
-
Resolve RAM, ROM and Thruput constraint issues
-
Conduct impact analysis of controller supplier software exceptions
-
Develop and delegate solutions for software issues
-
Integrate and build software deployments to meet initial vehicle program milestones

Create software strategies for initial new architecture programs
-
Negotiate controller software release schedule and content
-
Schedule and participate in controller supplier software reviews
-
Generate technical solutions for current, new, and major architectures

Collaborate with a variety of roles within the Software Defined Vehicle Embedded Platform teams

Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
-
BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science
-
Knowledge and 7+ years of experience in embedded controller development
-
Knowledge and 7+ years of experience with programming languages (C/C++, Assembly, Perl, Java), operating systems (Unix, Linux, RTOS for embedded system) and instrumentation
-
Experience with the following Software and Controls systems: Engine, Hybrid Propulsion, Electric Vehicle Propulsion, Transmission, Battery and Chassis

Knowledge of communication protocols for embedded systems such as CAN, Ethernet, AVB
-
Knowledge of RTOS features such as timer management, process/thread/task scheduling, synchronization, memory isolation and protection, and I/O management
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Master’s or PhD Degree in EE or CE/CS Engineering

Knowledge and 10+ years of experience in embedded controller development
-
Knowledge and 10+ years of experience with programming languages (C/C++, Assembly, Perl, Java), operating systems (Unix, Linux, RTOS for embedded system) and instrumentation
-
Knowledge of instrumentation and simulation/emulation methods for hardware-in-loop, model-in-loop and tools such as dSpace
-
Knowledge of architecture patterns and service-oriented architecture
-
Knowledge in safety related system design
