Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to HQ Building in Shanghai, China full time.
The Role -
This role collaborates closely with different areas of the business under a joint venture (JV) environment in China and Indonesia. It also includes supporting through influencing and guiding the JV Risk team in terms of credit and verification policy development and management, portfolio monitoring (risk metrics analysis), new product assessment, residual value management, expected loss analysis, and data processing & maintenance to support analytics and reporting. This role also prepares and reviews materials and provides support for GMF Sr, Risk Officer for APO who offers advice and insights to JV COO in China / JV CFO in Indonesia as required.
Prior experience in credit risk management, risk modeling, and portfolio analytics is expected. Consumer or commercial lending and/or collections experience is desired. - Support GMF Risk partnership with JV Risk teams to ensure that the business functions with full risk transparency, balancing growth, profitability, and risk exposure.
- Support partnership with GMF Central teams (e.g., Consumer Risk, RV Management, Commercial Risk) to facilitate and support joint projects and knowledge transfer.
- Support GMF Risk influence on credit policy, fraud strategy, and portfolio management to adhere to established risk appetite.
- Support strategic efforts initiated by Risk and operational and global efforts from a Risk perspective.
- Support monitoring of proper risk controls.
- Support reviewing of different Committee material (e.g., BOD, Risk Committee, etc.).
- The ideal candidate brings a high level of autonomy, is proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently for extended periods. They must be able to influence without direct authority, navigate cross-cultural dynamics with diplomacy, and contribute meaningfully to the team’s goals.
- Prior experience working with Western finance institutions is highly preferred.
What You’ll Do -
- Supporting the role of GMF Sr, Risk Officer for APO with the deployment/maintenance of a state-of-the art consumer risk management strategy for the JVs in China and Indonesia.
- Influencing and guiding strategy, direction, and execution of the Fraud Program.
- Interfacing with local and central consumer credit risk, global functions (e.g., finance, pricing, audit) to represent the credit risk function and to ensure proper alignment and execution of risk disciplines.
- Supporting local risk teams to ensure priorities are achieved within agreed timelines, such as product and pricing proposals, risk assessments, quality assurance findings, and policy / procedure analytics, among others.
- Supporting, influencing, guiding, and coaching a team of dedicated credit risk analysts in China and Indonesia, while leveraging centralized risk resources to achieve annual objectives.
- Partnering with the business teams to optimize the risk reward trade-off of the portfolio and maximize the potential sales through robust strategies across the loan/lease lifecycle.
- Supporting and facilitating initiatives to ensure the best available credit scorecards and ratings engines are in place to enhance portfolio quality.
- Guide local risk teams in finding new business opportunities and identifying and mitigating potential threats to maximize regional expected returns.
- Escalating emerging trends that warrant further transparency and / or action.
- Monitoring portfolio performance and recommending loss mitigation strategies and underwriting guideline changes as appropriate.
- Supporting and guiding residual value management within the market.
- Preparing reports and material as needed to support the communication from/to GMF.
- Managing miscellaneous projects and initiatives as appropriate.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 10+ years of progressive analytical and leadership experience, with ~5 years in credit risk roles
- Prior experience in credit risk management, risk modeling, and portfolio analytics. Consumer or commercial lending and/or collections experience is a plus.
- Completed bachelor’s degree.
- Master degree in Risk, Finance, and Business Administration is a plus.
- Native-level proficiency in Mandarin and strong English communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively engage with individuals and groups at all levels, including presentation, consultative, influencing, conflict management and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence without formal authority and navigate cross-cultural dynamics diplomatically.
- Ability to provide guidance/coaching to other teams (related to multiple projects while under heavy deadlines and constantly changing priorities)
- Flexibility to attend periodic meetings outside standard business hours (e.g., with teams in the U.S. and Greece).
- Ability to interact collaboratively with internal and external partners.
- Knowledge of business processes and key drivers to transform requirements into deliverables.
- Capability to manage multiple and varied projects, including ability to coordinate and balance numerous tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
- Methodologies, drivers and strategies about credit risk management.
- Excel (advanced) and statistics and data-mining software (preferred).
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong analytic and problem solving skill set, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical / data mining software (preferred).
- Hands-on approach to project work and adaptability in terms of style and activities undertaken.
- Willingness to travel internationally, when required, to locations such as the U.S. or Indonesia.
